Who can Join?

Burnham United Juniors provides football opportunities for boys and girls from age 5 to 16, with regular training sessions and games in Mini-Soccer, 9 v 9 and 11 v 11 football.

Mini-Soccer

The FA sees Mini-Soccer as the most appropriate and fun introduction to football, with teams of between 5 and 7 players, depending on the age group. Essentially it's smaller pitches with smaller goals, which means that all players get more touches on the ball and are therefore able to develop their football skills more quickly.

The FA rules on which age groups play which format are changing all the time, but at the moment Under 6’s through to Under 10’s play some form of Mini-Soccer. Under 11’s and 12’s play 9 v 9 and all other age groups play 11 v 11.

There are FA changes that mean the younger age groups do not play any competitive football, with training sessions, friendly matches and friendly league games being arranged for these younger age groups. At present only Under 11’s and above play in competitive league matches.

11 v 11 Football

Currently Under 13’s up to under 16’s play 11 v 11 competitive football, with our teams playing in the Woodspring Junior Football League or the Taunton Youth League.
